Golden Tulip Chain Uses IDS Next Hotel Software in India

Customisations provided to the group has helped maximise the use of the software

Customer Brief

The Golden Tulip chain traces its roots back to the early 1960s, when the first Golden Tulip hotels opened their doors in the Netherlands. Since then, the chain has evolved and expanded across the globe, always in step with the changing needs and expectations of its customers.

Today, the chain operates three well-known brands, Tulip Inn, Golden Tulip & Royal Tulip, with a total of over 230 hotels in 42 countries. Each establishment combines the chain’s commitment to high international standards with the unique personality of the people who manage it and the local flavour. The result is an inspiring and pleasurable stay.

In India, 13 properties of Golden Tulip use the IDS Next software. These are predominantly 3 and 4 star properties. The software they use includes FortuneNEXT 6i Enterprise, FortuneNEXT 6i Professional and FortuneNEXT 6i Express. Selection of the adopted software were done as per the size of the property and its needs. The Golden Tulip chain first adopted IDS Next Software in 2008 and all hotels since then have been using IDS software, and new hotels will also follow this trend.

Business Challenges

Earlier, Golden Tulip was using a software that was not seamlessly integrated. this increased their costs of software, hardware, and maintenance. They needed a Hotel ERP that was complete, cohesive, and seamless. They required a software that offered both front-office and back-office functions.

Solution

“Over the years we have built up a strong relationship and high comfort-level with IDS Next. The company has been very supportive. We have constantly given inputs on the way we wanted reports to be structured and the development team at IDS Next has made these changes for us,” said Mr. Bhargava.

It is always an advantage for a hotel chain to hire personnel who are acquainted with the software used in the hotel. IDS Next has a large presence in the Indian hospitality market, and Golden Tulip felt it easier to recruit personnel who knew IDS Software. This minimises their employee training time.

“We have effectively leveraged IDS Next software for data analysis using their extensive sets of reports. It has also let us perform certain tasks such as sending out email confirmation on reservations or quotes much faster,” said Mr. Bhargava.

BUSINESS IMPACT

Another big advantage that Golden Tulip experienced is that, IDS Next is constantly improving and updating their software. “We are happy with the new product features that the company introduces. This lets us automate more hotel activities and extract more detailed reports,” said Mr. Bhargava.

Golden Tulip Hotels and IDS Next work closely together. Senior management from IDS Next Software often address the GM-meet of the hotel chain, sharing with them development and improvements in the pipeline and how technology is making greater inroads into the hospitality industry worldwide.

“Over the years we have built up a strong relationship and high comfort-level with IDS Next. The company has been very supportive. We have constantly given inputs on the way we want reports structured and the development team at IDS Next has made these changes for us, Another reason why IDS Software become the choice hotel software for Golden Tulip Hotels is, because the company has its support centre in India, they could modify the software in keeping with Indian taxation laws and was willing to customise reports that we needed.”
