Hospitality Trends
January 2025
Transcript
Just three years ago, in 2022, we went by the rule, ‘go big, spend big.’Â
People eagerly booked bucket-list trips and travelled to make up for the lost time.Â
But 2025 is shaping up to be a whole different story
Now, travellers seem to shift gears, opting for experiences that are rather quiet and peacefulÂ
In 2025, 63% of travellers will consider lesser-known destinationsÂ
While classic city breaks and summer sun remain timeless, each year brings new adventures.Â
And 2025 is no exception.Â
In 2025, solo male travel is expected to overtake the number of solo female travellers. 30% of men are planning solo trips in 2025.Â
Next on the list is phenomena tourism, where travellers chase breathtaking natural phenomena like the Northern Lights, volcanos, or geysers. Two-thirds of UK travellers want to stay in spots where they can witness these phenomena up close. Â
Noctourism is also taking off. With space tourism on the horizon, more travellers are seeking out dark sky destinations to stargaze and witness rare cosmic events.  Â
Vintage tourism, also known as retro or nostalgia tourism, is another rising trend. Experiencing retro culture, history or recreating old memories are gaining popularity.  Â
56% of travellers plan to be thriftier on their trips in 2025.Â
Set-jetting is still going strong with “The White Lotus effect”. From the English landscapes in Brdgerton film sets to the Stanley Hotel, Colorado from The Shining, set-jetting is not going anywhere. Â
Two-thirds of travellers say movies, streaming services, and TV shows have influenced their travel choices, a 16 per cent increase from last year.Â
And then, we have Goods Getaways. Travellers are making room in their luggage for viral items — like the famous chocolate bars from Dubai to skincare products in South Korea. 44% of travellers shop for local goods they cannot find at home.Â
But things are far from “back to normal.” We are embracing a new age defined by old travel trends, combined with new experiences, consumer habits and technology.Â
2025 is shaping up to be a year of discovery. Travel and hospitality are evolving, and travellers are gearing up. The world is waiting for the next adventure. Â
